Ideal Standard, a leading provider of innovative and design-driven bathroom solutions, will return to Ecobuild, the UK’s largest event dedicated to sustainable design and construction on Tuesday 5th March 2013. Located on Stand 335 Ideal Standard will present a range of products, highlighting the company’s commitment to water efficiency and sustainable design.
Research conducted in 2012 by Ideal Standard in conjunction with the charity Waterwise found that, although more than four in five people claim to be conscious of their water usage, the average UK adult uses around five times more water per day than they realise. Nearly half of those surveyed say they have never considered installing water saving appliances, despite the average water use per person now reaching 150 litres per day.
The message from Ideal Standard is that even simple steps can make a difference. Cutting the average length of a shower from eight minutes to four minutes can save up to 30 litres of water per shower, while stepping straight into the shower, rather than letting it run for 1 minute 18 seconds, which the average person does, would save another ten litres on top.
On the stand will be Concept Space, a brand new collection that has been introduced by Ideal Standard for 2013. The range has been designed to complement the current Concept collection designed by the award winning UK designer Robin Levien.
Concept Space is designed with both space and water saving in mind, it combines a collection of ceramics, including short projection basins and low flush WC’s. Baths are cleverly designed to fit into small and awkward spaces, also holding less water than a standard bath.
The Concept Space furniture units are smaller than average size, creating intelligent storage solutions. No matter how awkward the size or shape, whether a bathroom is large or small, Concept Space will transform it into a clean, contemporary space by decreasing clutter and making the most of the room available. The Concept Space range will meet the code for sustainable home rating 3 which is 103 litre per person per day.
All Concept Space Furniture is manufactured from sustainability sourced materials. All are chain of custody approved through either the PEFC or FSC schemes.
Concept Easybox Slim is another new Ideal Standard product being showcased at Ecobuild. Launched in February, it is a shallow depth built-in thermostatic mixer designed to fit in drywall partitions with a depth of 43mm. Being so slender, the Concept Easybox Slim is perfect for new build properties or refurbishment projects where only shallow wall cavities are present. Fitted with an Ideal Rain shower kit which comes with an 8 litre a minute flow regulator, Concept Easy Box Slim can make substantial water savings.
Among the highlights is Concept Blue, a stunning collection of fittings that not only save water but can reduce energy costs too. The IdealBlue technology used in the range reduces by 80 per cent the amount of water held in a tap when it is closed. This means that less water is wasted, with energy also being saved as it takes up to seven seconds less to achieve the selected water temperature due to the low water content being held in the tap.
Tony Rheinberg, Marketing Manager at Ideal Standard, comments: “Ideal Standard is at the forefront of water efficient technology, providing innovative total bathroom solutions. The Concept Space range provides the complete solution in terms of functionality and sustainability. Ideal Standard is committed to making a difference to water wastage. Each new product is now designed with this in mind.”
Ideal Standard already has the largest range of water saving products in the industry with over 400 products on the water label scheme, designed to help consumers identify water efficient products. The scheme gives consumers a variety of choice and price ranges.
