CUPACLAD® 101 Logic has been specified as the upper façade solution for three newly constructed homes at Rosebury Farm in Hertfordshire, providing a striking architectural finish while supporting the project’s sustainability goals.

Located within the Metropolitan Green Belt of the Broxbourne District, the development was designed by Squared Architects and constructed by Roof Brothers. The three homes share a consistent architectural language and material palette, while incorporating subtle variations to create individual identity. Stepped façades were introduced to soften the overall massing of the buildings and create visual interest across the development.

Natural slate was selected as a key material to ensure the architecture maintained a strong connection with its rural surroundings. CUPACLAD® 101 Logic was installed across the upper façades of the homes, creating a contemporary aesthetic while complementing the landscape and respecting local heritage.

Simone Demurtas, Director at Squared Architects, explains:
“From the outset, we wanted the project to be characterised by modern, minimal geometries, while employing traditional materials rather than synthetic façade cladding. Natural slate allowed us to achieve this balance. This was our first project using CUPACLAD®, and we were impressed by the quality and the elegant metallic effect the slate creates in daylight.”

The system was recommended by the developer and installed by experienced contractor Roof Brothers, who have previously delivered several projects using the CUPACLAD® system.

Victor Wakefield, Company Director at Roof Brothers, comments:
“For us, CUPACLAD® was the obvious choice. The system is straightforward and efficient to install. The horizontal profiles fix directly to the timber subframe, allowing the façade to be built quickly and accurately. The pre-holed slates and dedicated screws ensure clean and consistent positioning, which saves valuable time on site.”

Despite the presence of large window openings across the façades, the system’s flexibility allowed the installation to be completed seamlessly. Slates were precisely trimmed where required, while details including powder-coated aluminium flashings and lead junctions integrated neatly with the façade.

CUPACLAD® is a fully BBA-approved, Class A1 non-combustible, back-ventilated façade system that offers architects extensive design flexibility, from traditional to contemporary aesthetics. The system combines natural slate with a recyclable aluminium substructure, creating a durable and environmentally responsible façade solution.

Natural slate also offers significant environmental advantages. The production process requires minimal water and energy and uses no chemical treatments. CUPA PIZARRAS is Net Zero certified and holds an EcoVadis Gold Medal alongside BRE Global verification of its Environmental Product Declaration.

With a lifespan exceeding 100 years and minimal maintenance requirements, CUPACLAD® 101 Logic provides a long-lasting façade solution that combines architectural elegance with proven durability.
