Robertson has commenced work on the next phase of re-development works for Technip, the world leader in project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry, at the company’s Westhill site in Aberdeen. Following initial enabling work earlier this year, part of the site will be demolished to make way for a new state-of-the-art facility which is due to be completed in August 2013.
Robertson, the infrastructure, construction and support services company, was appointed to construct the new 60,000 sq ft building and one and a half storey car park, replacing existing buildings on the site.
The new facility will provide extensive office space, including meeting rooms and dedicated emergency response facilities, as well as a restaurant, coffee shop and gym facilities.
Keith Taylor, regional managing director at Robertson commented: “Over the course of the 54 week contract, around 70 construction personnel will be on site each week.
“Technip’s new facility shows their confidence in the market and Aberdeen will benefit greatly from their increased presence in the area. As a local construction business it’s an exciting project to be involved in.”
Bill Morrice, Managing Director Technip UK said: “The development of our Westhill site comes at an extremely positive time for the company.
“The next stage of the expansion of our new facilities is an important step for us as we aim to ensure we continue to be in the best possible position to meet our clients developing needs, both now and in the future.
“As an organisation, we continually strive to provide members of our team with the best possible work environment and facilities and the investment in our Westhill site further strengthens this commitment. I am delighted that the building remains on track for completion in August 2013.”
Following the completion of the new building, existing buildings at the site will undergo a period of refurbishment.
Robertson has been appointed as the main contractor for a number of high-profile construction projects in and around Aberdeen in recent months, including the new Emergency Care Centre, Intertek’s new headquarters and the first Maggie’s Centre in the city.
