A recent trade survey carried out by the Construction Products Association (CPA), on behalf of the Association of Interior Specialists (AIS) has revealed that the UK ceilings market is now worth around £194 million.
To ensure the most reliable results possible, AIS requested that CPA combine organisational resources and expertise to devise a suspended ceiling specific survey that was not only easy to complete, but also provided accurate and valuable data back to the sector.
The feedback received from all ceilings manufacturers revealed 18 million m2 ceiling tiles and panels and 51 million lineal metres of grids and trims make up the c. £194 million figure that the market is worth. The survey, which was sent out early in 2013, was received very well and completed by all ceilings manufacturers to allow CPA to create an accurate overview of the market.
AIS chief executive David Frise said: "The importance of the data should not be underestimated. It allows AIS to speak with authority about the market, increasing our sector voice and influence.
"In fact, we’re so dedicated to delivering the most current data available, we’ll be repeating the survey again early in 2014. Bringing the group together demonstrates the strength of the trade association - we are able to do some things that even the largest companies cannot achieve on their own."
