Fast-growing environmental consultancy positioned to support recovery in sustainable housing development and renewable energy generation with opening of Thetford office
Atmos Consulting has opened its first southern office, increasing the ability of its growing team of specialist environmental consultants to support clients throughout the whole of the UK. The fifth and newest Atmos Consulting office is in Thetford, Norfolk. Rapidly climbing the ranks to become one of the UK’s leading environmental consultancies, the firm also has offices in Scotland, North East England and Wales.
The Atmos team, which includes ecologists, planners, EIA specialists, hydrologists, noise consultants, and renewable energy analysts, provides a comprehensive range of environmental consultancy skills for projects at any stage of development, from feasibility studies through to detailed environmental impact assessments and mitigation planning. Atmos consulting has particular, and award-winning, expertise in the use of geographical information systems.
Heading up the new office is Jon Huckle, an ecologist with over 17 years of experience: “We chose Thetford for our first southern base because we have been working on projects in the region, ranging from an Essex shopping centre to a Norfolk housing development. This more local base enables us to operate more cost-effectively and sustainably.”
Atmos Consulting has core strengths in the renewable energy sector, particularly onshore wind, but has considerable experience in providing sustainable environmental solutions for clients in a whole range of sectors, including non-renewable energy, transport and property development.
Jon Huckle commented, “Atmos has been able to maintain growth in a time of recession, and opening our new office puts us in the perfect position to take advantage of the first shoots of economic growth in this region as and when they do occur.”
He added that the presumption in favour of sustainable development in the South East, as detailed in the National Planning Policy Framework document, demonstrates the Government’s wish to speed up the planning process and make it work better, especially in relation to housing supply. The Atmos team in Thetford is highly experienced with the planning application process for such developments, and able to advise on sustainability.
The South East is also an area of the UK with a focus on implementing diverse renewable energy technologies, and Atmos Consulting’s broad skills and expertise enable it to support developers and community groups.
