Sika Liquid Plastics, pioneer of cold applied liquid roofing systems, is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved Cold Bonded Built-Up Roof System. The new system has all the inherent advantages of its predecessor – including completely flame and heat free installation, and system guarantees of up to 25 years.
“Our BUR system was originally launched eight years ago,” comments Steve Leech, National Sales Manager for Sika Liquid Plastics, “Since then the market has evolved with more clients requiring cold applied options with improved workability, which has led to us developing our system to include components using the latest self adhesive technology.”
The roofing system is completely cold applied and has been tested in accordance with BS EN 13501-5 and BS 476-3. It has also achieved a BROOF(t4) and EXT. F.AB respectively, allowing unrestricted use under the current building regulations. The full system includes S-Vap 5000E SA which utilises self adhesive technology and can be used as a temporary waterproofing layer, helping to protect the building from water ingress during installation. This means internal works can progress with the roofing presenting minimal disruption to the build schedule.
The Top Coat version of Sika Liquid Plastics’ premium liquid waterproofing membrane – Decothane – has also been re-launched and now offers a more aesthetically pleasing finish. In addition Decothane Detail Coat has also been introduced to optimise installation on upstands and vertical surfaces in a range of temperature conditions.
“There are many more key benefits for our customers,” continues Steve, “The high performance self adhesive carrier membrane has been developed specifically to maximise the aesthetic appearance of the seamless liquid waterproofing system, and faster installation can be achieved ensuring overall project costs are reduced.”
Sika Liquid Plastics launched the Cold Bonded Built-Up Roof System to its Quality Assured Contractors in April and will soon be producing a new CPD seminar to educate architects and specifiers on the product changes.
