Solar PV company Enfinity UK more than doubled its target last year, in its first year of UK trading, supplying some 6.5MW of solar PV systems against its 3MW target. These results are set against a back-drop of the Belgian-owned Enfinity Group increasing installed capacity by 200MW in 2011, reaching some 390MW total installed PV to date, confirming the company as a European market leader and top ten player globally.
Enfinity UK, which is based in Corsham, Wiltshire, has now supplied some 4MW of solar PV into the residential and commercial market, as well as supplying PV modules, inverters and associated equipment to over 2,500 social housing installations. This year, in spite of the cuts to Feed-In Tariffs, the company has delivered on a number of new housing association and local authority projects including Taff Housing Association, Rooftop Housing, Cynon Taf Community Housing, Monmouthshire County Council and Torfaen County Borough Council. Enfinity has also completed the development of nineteen sub-50kWp installations for a national utility company with a total installed capacity of 720kWp.
Worldwide, Enfinity growth continues unabated. Highlights include the opening of a solar energy plant in Les Mées, Southern France (18.2MW), a project in the Indian province of Gujarat (15MW), the Stardale project in Ontario, Canada (33MW) and a high speed rail solar tunnel in Belgium (4MW). The group is also strong in the Asian and American markets and here Enfinity recently finalised an agreement with Wells Fargo, the largest bank in the US, to provide up to $100 million funding for solar photovoltaic (PV) projects developed by Enfinity.
Although it has been a challenging year for the UK solar industry with the numerous changes in Feed-In Tariffs over the last 6 months, Enfinity remains confident for the future as Martin Allman, Enfinity UK Trade Manager explained, “The UK market is in a period of consolidation and at Enfinity we feel we are in a strong position as a mature solar company. We already have partnerships with Graham and Jewson in the merchant market and are continuing to expand our network of Installer Partners throughout the UK.” He continued, “With solar PV system costs adjusting to the new tariff rates, the technology continues to be an excellent investment for both the private and public sector.”
