Kier Group has been selected for an incredible 42 awards at the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards 2011 – breaking a new record for the Group and further establishing it as one of the industry’s most considerate companies.
From 1 January 2008 the Group became an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and it became mandatory for every eligible Kier site or project to be registered with the scheme and to be assessed under its ‘Code of Considerate Practice’.
Considerate Constructors Scheme annual National Site Awards are given to only the highest scoring 7.5% of sites, which have completed in the previous year. The Awards recognise sites' excellent standards of consideration towards their workforce, their neighbours and the environment.
This marks a great improvement for the Group which started off, in its first year as an Associate Member, with just eight awards.
The accolades will be given out at a series of lunch ceremonies being held throughout March and April and representatives from Kier companies across the Group will be attending.
Considerate Constructors Scheme chief executive Edward Hardy said: “Kier Group is an extremely valuable Associate Member to the Scheme, its continuous drive to be a considerate constructor is evident at all times, and its dedication to the Scheme’s aims are proven by the sheer amount of awards it has won this year. I congratulate Kier and wish the Group continued success for the future.”
The Considerate Constructors Scheme also selected a Kier company, Kier Sheffield LLP, to pilot its first ever company registration visit for responsive repairs. This is the first time a company has been monitored for day-to-day repairs on building maintenance work or bids.
Kier Sheffield received exceptional monitors’ feedback and achieved a score of 36 - the highest ever score nationally in the construction industry on a CCS company registration scheme. The CCS now sees Kier’s initiatives on the Sheffield LLP as a best practice foundation for its pilot going forward and will mark future companies against the standards Kier set.
The company was assessed particularly highly in its safety, and environmental performance.
Edward Hardy said: “Kier Sheffield was the first responsive repairs company to join our Company Registration initiative, so naturally we were hoping to see the same level of commitment we have seen from Kier with other aspects of the Scheme. We have not been disappointed. This score is outstanding and Kier should be very proud. Kier Group is an asset to the whole industry and is an excellent ambassador for all that’s best in British construction.”
