A new range of double glazed, thermal break aluminium louvre windows promises to raise standards in the natural and smoke ventilation markets. The Vengen28 from Naco provides a natural, low cost solution while also meeting the airtightness standards required in modern energy efficient buildings.
With frame and louvre blade sections built from extruded aluminium and thermal break materials from polyamide reinforced glass fibre, the Vengen28 delivers a high standard of air and water tightness enhanced by the use of rubber ‘flipper’ seals fitted to the glazing bars.
The double glazed thickness of 28mm gives excellent thermal performance in line with the U values that new and refurbished buildings must meet, but the whole unit is surprisingly easy to fit and maintain. Toughened, laminated and argon filled glass is also available as are a range of colours and tints. Insulation panels can also be provided in place of glass where needed.
The window system can be operated manually or by using motorised controls and is available as a bespoke product to meet specifiers’ exact requirements.
Stringent
Naco, which is part of the Ruskin Air Management Group, has been manufacturing louvres for almost 50 years and is the only specialist with a UK manufacturing facility. The Vengen28 has been subjected to stringent ‘in-house’ mechanical component testing; independent testing by BSRIA for aerodynamic and weathering criteria; and by Wintech to determine air leakage and water tightness. Testing to EN12101-2 for heat and smoke extraction is planned for later this year.

The technical specifications of the system mean that it can deliver the required ventilation rates with much smaller openings than are needed when using bottom hung windows. This gives greater design and architectural flexibility and further improves the thermal efficiency of the building fabric. The Vengen28 can also be adapted to fit most applications including curtain walling and brick/block structures.
