Products from Forbo’s Flotex, Westbond, Tessera, Floorink, Coral and Surestep floor covering ranges were all specified as part of a major refurbishment and extension project at the National Trust Stackpole Outdoor Learning Centre in Pembrokeshire.
Over 500m2 of Flotex flocked flooring was installed to cope with a daily onslaught of pedestrian and wheeled traffic including children wearing wet and muddy clothes. This unique flocked floor covering delivers the toughness, durability and hygienic attributes of a resilient floor covering, coupled with the quietness, warmth and comfort of a textile floor finish. 100% waterproof and rot proof, Flotex can be restored quickly by steam or mechanical cleaning, even after heavy soiling.
350m2 of Westbond Flex carpet tiles in Tutti Frutti was installed in new sleeping accommodation, providing maximum underfoot comfort and warmth, and appropriate acoustic properties, whilst Tessera Teviot carpet tiles were installed throughout living areas where extra durability was required.
Surestep Star, a heterogeneous safety vinyl combining R10 slip resistance with a unique PUR Pearl surface for easy maintenance, ticked all the right boxes in washrooms and bathrooms.
To communicate the heritage of the site in a novel way, a historical map of the site was printed onto vinyl flooring for the visitor information centre via the Floorink service, which digital printing specialists Printed Space offer in partnership with Forbo.
To complete the project a Coral Duo entrance matting system was installed to provide effective soil and moisture removal at the entrance areas. This attractive and highly effective ‘wipe-off’ entrance matting captures up to 94% of moisture and walked in dirt, helping to prevent slips and trips and protecting new floor coverings throughout the National Trust’s new-look activity centre from unnecessary soiling, wear and tear.
