This year open to Architecture students and registered Architects with a £20,000 prize fund.
Following the success of previous Nationwide Sustainable Housing Awards the RIBA is delighted to be once more associated with Nationwide, as it announces details of its third competition which this year is open to both professionals and students.
This year’s theme will be Regeneration with a real site for competitors to base their submissions on.
The competition will focus on sustainability with particular focus on the following key issues:-
Affordability and low cost regeneration: reuse of buildings and materials;
Community impact and co-operation
Self Build / options to help first time buyers
Environment: Carbon Footprint, Energy, Water, Waste, Ecology and
Green Space, Materials
Transport and Parking
In sponsoring this competition Nationwide seeks to incentivise design to take account of and be inspired by the challenges of regeneration in housing.
Eligibility
This year’s Nationwide Sustainable Housing Awards will be open to all students of Architecture and registered Architects too.

Full details will be available w/c 18 July 2011 on the dedicated competition website with entries to be submitted to RIBA Competitions in mid October 2011.
A jury panel will meet in early November 2011 to assess all the entries anonymously and winners will be notified by the end of November. An awards ceremony and exhibition at RIBA HQ, London will follow in December 2011.
