New home registrations in the UK maintained a steady rate of growth throughout November, with similar levels compared to a year ago, according to the latest NHBC figures.
In November 11,390 new homes (8,525 private sector; 2,865 public sector) were registered, an increase of 4% on the same month last year (8,848 private sector; 2,152 public sector).
Over the last three months, 38,577 new homes (30,170 private sector; 8,407 public sector) were registered between September and November compared to 37,634 (30,120 private sector; 7,514 public sector) in 2014, an increase of 3%.
As the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, NHBC¿s registration statistics help to provide new and accurate data on the country's new homes market.
Commenting on the new registration statistics, NHBC Chief Executive Mike Quinton said: "New home registrations for the last three months have remained slightly ahead of the same period last year, following the growth we have experienced throughout 2015. We hope that this momentum continues into the New Year, as we have been clear that while all growth is encouraging news, the UK is still building way below the volumes of new homes that it desperately needs."
NHBC UK statistics for September - November 2015 show that during September - November 2015, the number of registrations was 38,557, a 3% increase on last year (37,634). Of these: private sector registrations increased marginally (30,170), compared with the same period last year (30,120); and public sector registrations increased by 12% (8,407) when compared to the same period last year (7,514).
NHBC's role is to support the industry in maintaining and improving the build quality of new homes for homebuyers, whilst providing the benefit of its 10-year Buildmark warranty protection, when required.
NHBC does this through a wide range of activities, from standards setting through technical support to warranty and insurance.
NHBC is a non-profit distributing organisation with no shareholders. It invests any surplus into activities that improve new homes further, in particular through its research arm, the NHBC Foundation.
NHBC is the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK. NHBC's ten-year Buildmark warranty covers around 80 per cent of new homes built in the UK, having covered nearly eight million homes since it began and currently protecting around 1.6 million homes.
