The Luminia SC156 Lift and Slide door is a brand new aluminium sliding door from leading aluminium systems company AluK that is anything but ordinary. Designed primarily for high end apartment blocks and luxury hotels, it has already been specified ahead of launch in Berkeley Homes’ prestigious West End Gate residential development in Marylebone, central London.
This the second product to be introduced into AluK’s new Luminia premium product tier, which is characterised by contemporary aesthetics and exceptional performance; and it sits alongside the already popular Luminia F82 bi-folding door.
In terms of aesthetics, the SC156 Lift and Slide door boasts slim sightlines of 95mm around the frame and just 50mm on the central interlock. It can accommodate large expanses of glazing up to 3100mm high with panel weights of up to 400kg, so truly maximises space, views and natural light.
When it comes to performance, this door has achieved a market leading weather tightness rating of 1500 Pa, making it ideal for projects in even the most exposed coastal locations. U-Values are 1.4W/m2K when double glazed and just 1.0W/m2K triple glazed, easily matching the thermal performance of the PVC-U and composite alternatives, but in what AluK describes as a more contemporary and streamlined package.
The premium SC156 is available in both mono and dual track options to accommodate a range of different opening configurations, and the advanced lift and slide mechanism makes opening and closing reassuringly smooth and effortless.
In line with the requirements of Approved Document Q for the new build market, the new door is fully tested and accredited to the PAS24: 2012 security standard.
Russell Yates, AluK’s Managing Director, says that the SC156 is an important addition to AluK’s sliding door range: “Market reports are predicting continued growth of more than 10% in the aluminium sliding door market over the next couple of years. It is becoming increasingly segmented though with mass market, premium and high end buyers all looking for something very different from their specification. In response to that, we now have a product designed specifically for each of those sectors – with our Optio BSC94 aimed at the mass market, this new Luminia SC156 targeted at the premium sector and our Infinium range for the truly high end.”
In line with the rest of the AluK range, the SC156 is available from stock in three standard colours and two dual colours. Outside of the stock offering, AluK also offers a vast range of popular and custom RAL colours and finishes.
The new door is available exclusively through AluK’s network of Luminia Select Partners, who are all carefully selected fabricators who share AluK’s ethos and approach in targeting the premium sector.
