Galliford Try’s Infrastructure business has been appointed by Calderdale Council to a £34m scheme through the YORcivil framework, that will help revitalise Halifax town centre through the redevelopment of the A629 route.
The aim of the scheme is to build a more welcoming town centre for Halifax, through the pedestrianisation of several key access areas, and a re-routing of the access to the town’s railway station, removing traffic from the centre.

Changes to road layouts are being designed to encourage greener forms of transport, making walking, cycling and public transport routes easier for people to access.
David Lowery, Managing Director of Galliford Try Infrastructure, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Calderdale Council to deliver this much-needed scheme that will make such a difference to the local community.
“We have a growing expertise in creating greener transport infrastructure in city centre settings and look forward to working with all the stakeholders involved to create a lasting impact for the people of Halifax.”
