The sale of a large parcel of development land has paved the way for a substantial residential development in Mickleover, Derby.
The land adjoining Mickleover, which extends to around 44 acres, has been purchased by Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey, following a competitive informal tender process.
The 783 homes in the pipeline will form part of a wider new sustainable urban extension of 1,750 homes which will include a new primary school, a health centre, convenience retail and a community facility.
The land was sold by Savills and Hawksmoor, working on behalf of the landowner and promoter, Commercial Estates Group.
Ben Glover, director and head of development at Savills in the East Midlands, comments: “The land in Mickleover proved to be a very popular site throughout the marketing process, generating a lot of interest with strong bids from national and regional housebuilders.
“A special mention has to go to Richard Wain at Hawksmoor, the development manager working on behalf of CEG, who dealt with various complications along the way, in turn unlocking much needed new housing in a popular part of Derby and assisting delivery of a new primary school and health centre to serve the wider Mickleover area.”
The scheme will be made up of 2, 3,4 & 5-bedroom homes including some affordable homes near the local centre plus a financial contribution to provide more affordable homes across South Derbyshire.
This sale marks phase three of the scheme, with phases one and two having sold to Barratt Homes who have completed their build and Avant Homes who are currently finishing their phase.
