Kier has been appointed by Midlothian Council to deliver the new, £41.8m Mayfield Community Learning Campus, with construction set to begin this summer.
As part of Kier's commitment to creating spaces that enrich lives and communities, the team will oversee the demolition of the existing buildings and the construction of a state-of-the-art campus.
The new campus will bring together Mayfield Primary School, St Luke’s RC Primary School, early years provision, additional support needs education, and a wide range of community services under one roof.

Other features include:
The campus will accommodate over 700 primary school pupils, 100 nursery-aged children, and 24 children with additional support needs, reflecting Kier's commitment to inclusive, high-quality learning environments.
Phil McDowell, regional director, Kier Construction North & Scotland, said: "We’re pleased to be working once again with Midlothian Council to deliver the new Mayfield Community Learning Campus. Drawing on our strong track record in building high-quality schools, we’ll create a modern, inclusive environment for over 700 pupils complete with a wide range of community uses.
“This project marks a major step forward for Mayfield. We’ve also developed a careful site preparation strategy to minimise disruption to nearby residents, reusing materials on site to reduce waste and traffic coming in and out of the site.
“The end result will be a valuable resource for learning, wellbeing and community life for years to come."
Councillor Ellen Scott, Midlothian Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: "While the schools will be the heart of this project, our aim is to build an outstanding facility that will also serve the wider community.
“This is a significant and timely investment in the future of the Mayfield community. We’re looking forward to welcoming local people and children into a well-designed, modern and inspiring building that responds to the needs of young learners while expanding opportunities for improved health, wellbeing and the local economy."
The project forms part of the Learning Estate Investment Programme and benefits from funding from the Scottish Government.
