Wood Awards 2026 call for entries now open

Entries for the Wood Awards 2026 are now open — and already underway.

For over 50 years, the Wood Awards have celebrated the very best in timber architecture and design across the UK.

From quietly crafted homes to ambitious public buildings, and from one-off pieces to production furniture, the awards recognise projects where timber is used with clarity, skill and purpose.

If you’ve completed a project in the last two years where timber plays a leading role, this is your opportunity to have it properly seen and experienced by some of the most respected voices in the industry.

Every project is reviewed by independent judging panels made up of leading architects, engineers, designers and makers. Shortlisted projects are then visited in person, allowing judges to experience not just how a project looks, but how it performs, feels, and holds together.

This year’s Building judges include Jim Greaves (Hopkins Architects), Andrew Lawrence (Arup), David Morley (David Morley Architects), Nathan Wheatley (Engenuiti), Kirsten Haggart (Waugh Thistleton Architects), Jonas Lencer (dRMM), Neil Smith (Max Fordham), Sasha Bhavan (Knox Bhavan Architects), Andrew Trotman (Timberwright), and Ruth Slavid (Architectural Journalist).

Furniture & Objects are judged by Sebastian Cox (Lead Judge), Caroline Till (FranklinTill), Hugo Macdonald (Critic & Curator), Johanna Agerman Ross (Design Museum), Henry Tadros (Ercol), and Sophie Sellu (Grain & Knot).

The Wood Awards have always been about more than aesthetics. It’s about how timber is used: thoughtfully, responsibly, and in ways that move the material forward.

As timber continues to play a critical role in low-carbon construction, the awards remain a place to recognise projects that are not only well-designed but relevant.

Categories span Buildings and Furniture & Objects, including commercial, public and private architecture, as well as bespoke and production design.

Entries close Friday 22 May 2026. The shortlist will be announced in early September, followed by the annual Shortlist Exhibition during the London Design Festival. Shortlisted teams will be invited to attend both the exhibition opening and the Wood Awards ceremony in November at Carpenters’ Hall.

The Wood Awards are the UK’s most established award for timber design — and a rare opportunity for projects to be experienced, not just seen.
