The Rooflight Association is pleased to announce two significant appointments to its leadership team: Paul Reid, Sales Director at VELUX Commercial UK & Ireland as Vice Chair and Bethany Smith, Marketing Manager at Hambleside Danelaw as Marketing Committee Chair.
With their combined industry expertise and extensive sales and marketing experience, these appointments reinforce The Rooflight Association’s commitment to championing quality, compliance and the holistic benefits of rooflights in the built environment.

Paul Reid was announced as a new Board Member last July, and since then has made an important contribution to The Rooflight Association, using his experience in commercial sales, his understanding of the role rooflights play in creating better commercial buildings and strategic leadership skills to offer valuable insights, feedback and guidance.
Commenting on his new role as Vice Chair, Paul said: “Rooflights have an important role to play in helping create brighter, healthier and more sustainable spaces. I’m delighted to take on this role and continue supporting The Rooflight Association at such an important time for the industry.”
Bethany Smith has long represented Hambleside Danelaw at The Rooflight Association, and more recently, supporting the marketing committee. This appointment is a natural progression for Bethany. Currently a PhD candidate, Bethany has a passion for learning – a passion that has only grown since she entered the rooflight industry in 2021.
Of her new role as Marketing Committee Chair of The Rooflight Association, Bethany said: “I can’t wait to get stuck in. The Rooflight Association has grown from strength to strength thanks to work from core supporting members. There are some exciting things on the horizon, and the work of the Association is more important than ever.”
Mark Wilcox, Chair of The Rooflight Association welcomed the new appointments. Speaking at the Association’s Annual General Meeting, he said: “The next few years will be significant for The Rooflight Association, as decision-makers look to maximise daylighting, reduce dependency on electric lighting and improve the social and environmental impact of our built environment. In fact, it is something we’re already experiencing, as more people download and engage with our technical guidance, for example.
“As an organisation and the voice of the UK’s rooflight industry, we are used to change, in fact, we actively influence and drive positive change through the actions of our committees and working groups. With Paul and Bethany’s support, we can build on this, using their skills, experience and connections to ensure The Rooflight Association message is heard loud and clear and reaches the people that matter. We congratulate them on their new roles.”
