Senior Architectural Systems has further strengthened its relationship with ASSA ABLOY with the introduction of two new lock options for its SPD150 aluminium commercial door, both tested to PAS 24:2022+A1:2024, to deliver a more secure, versatile and seamlessly integrated solution for demanding commercial environments.
The move marks a significant step forward in the ongoing collaboration between the two brands following ASSA ABLOY’s acquisition of Senior in 2025, bringing together proven expertise in aluminium door system performance and access control innovation.

Since its introduction in 2025, Senior’s SPD150 aluminium commercial door has quickly established itself as a durable, high-performance solution for demanding commercial projects. The integration of ASSA ABLOY’s ES8100 V‑Lock to create the SPDVL locking system is set to build on this reliable performance even further by delivering a fully integrated and concealed access control solution which not only strengthens security but also improves design flexibility and operational functionality.
The new SPDVL locking system has been designed to integrate entirely within the door and framing system to provide a dual‑action, non‑rebated, high‑usage door solution suitable for both single and double door applications. A key advantage of this approach is that the locking system does not encroach on the clear opening width, ensuring maximum accessibility and compliance in high-traffic environments. The concealed nature of the system also delivers a cleaner architectural finish.
Senior has also developed a new option for projects that feature its SPD150 commercial door as an outward opening single door by incorporating the power of ASSA ABLOY’S 281 Series Direct Pull Electromagnetic Lock to create the new SPDML locking system. Featuring two high holding force magnetic locks housed within a specially engineered dual maglock slam post, the SPDML locking system is compatible with all standard Senior thermal framing mullions, helping reduce the need for bespoke detailing and supporting consistent installation across multiple door sets.
To maintain the required holding force of the magnetic locks, Senior can supply handed mounting plates, along with guidance to ensure the correct version is selected for the door handing on each project. This helps minimise installation errors and ensures the locking system performs as intended. As the slam post extends across the internal door stile and the standard push location becomes partially obstructed, Senior has also introduced the SPWMF18 push plate, providing a clear and accessible surface for applying opening force. The push plate can be supplied in any colour to meet individual project requirements.
The introduction of these new lock options reflects the growing alignment between Senior and ASSA ABLOY as the two companies continue to combine their strengths in aluminium fenestration and access control technology. By integrating ASSA ABLOY’s proven locking systems directly into the SPD150 door and wider façade interfaces, Senior is expanding the capability of its commercial door range and offering customers a more coordinated, secure and installation‑friendly solution for high‑traffic environments.
