Forticrete, the UK’s largest manufacturer of Cast Stone products, has extended its popular Stone-In-Stock™ range of off-the-shelf standard components to include the company’s environmentally friendly Bat and Swift boxes.
Produced using the highest quality Cast Stone, all products in the Forticrete Stone-In-Stock™ range are ex-stock components which are available for prompt delivery and designed for complementary use with stone, masonry or brick.
Forticrete’s Bat Box has been designed for use in new build construction or renovation works where there is a requirement to provide a habitat for Pipistrelle bats. Boxes are made with a conventional cast stone front face and backed with high grade plywood which is sawn and roughened internally to provide a haven for bats. They are also maintenance free due to a bottom entrance and bespoke boxes can be designed and made for any application.
Swifts come to the UK for each summer from Central and Southern Africa, however they find it increasingly difficult to find nest sites in modern or refurbished buildings due to the effective sealing of the eaves. Forticrete’s Swift Boxes are again developed for use in either new build construction or renovation works where there is a requirement to provide a habitat for birds. Boxes are made of cast stone but hollow in order to provide a haven for birds to nest in.

“However, we understand that there are sometimes occasions when products are needed at short notice and as such, created our Stone-In-Stock™ range, a selection of the highest quality Cast Stone components available off-the-shelf. “This range of widely used detailing components eliminates long lead-times and high levels of stock on site. It is available ex-stock for collection on commercial vehicles within three days and delivery can be arranged within seven. We are always looking for ways to enhance and update the collection and are pleased to announce that our popular Bat and Swift Boxes are now also included as part of the range.”
The range has been designed and dimensioned to co-ordinate with stone, brick or render and all components are through coloured (homogeneous mix). It is the largest range of its kind in the UK and includes commonplace products such as cills, heads and plinths through to more colourful solutions such as portico’s and finials.
