The GGF has recently published a new and updated version of the “Working at Height Code of Practice – Safety in the Domestic Replacement Window Industry” brochure.
The new publication is aimed at companies and employees working within the replacement window sector, including the removal, installation and trimming and sealing of windows in domestic premises. The brochure has been produced to help those who are involved in the planning, managing and undertaking of work at height to make health and safety improvements in the domestic replacement window industry.
Produced in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), this revised edition covers:
• The general principles for working at height
• The control measures
• The considerations for selecting equipment
• The safe systems of work
• Use of ladders
• Specialist equipment
The brochure also includes case examples. Definitions, references, the integrated standards and suggested further reading.
Declan Moore, GGF Health and Safety Manager commented on the new edition, “It is pleasing to see the revised publication being released to the industry. The GGF Health and Safety Committee and Health and Safety Executive along with the GGF Marketing department have worked hard to produce a comprehensive and user friendly guide. This revised version contains essential safety information for all companies and individuals working in the domestic replacement window sector.”
Andy Hunter, GGF Health and Safety Chairman added, “The Working at Height Code of Practice should be a key reference for every company who undertakes work that involves working at height. The Health and Safety Committee and HSE ensured that all the relevant areas were covered to make it the industry code of practice for working a height.”
