Natural Building Technologies (NBT) will host a daily programme of ‘thought leadership’ seminars and sustainable building demonstrations on a specially-commissioned stand (N1464) at Ecobuild.
Thought leadership seminars and masterclasses will include presentations on ‘The Performance Gap and How to Overcome it’, ‘Building Sustainably in Reality’, the ‘Internal Insulation of External Walls’, and ‘Health and Buildings’.
Building demonstrations will include wall constructions featuring NBT’s Thermoplan structural insulating blocks, and the installation and render finishing of the BBA-certified Diffutherm woodfibre insulation system.
ThermoPlan uses a true thin bed mortar, just 1mm thick, to secure rows of blocks, with interlocking dry vertical joints anchoring adjacent blocks along the row. The simplicity of the construction process enables ThermoPlan block walls to be typically constructed three to four times faster than conventional blockwork structures, with no limitation on the height that can be built in a day and no drying out shrinkage.
The honeycomb cross-section structure of the blocks delivers excellent levels of both thermal and acoustic insulation, while their microporous structure further benefits the insulation performance and delivers highly effective breathability.
The NBT Diffutherm system features natural woodfibre insulation boards applied over the outside of a masonry substrate, steel frame or timber frame structure, with an external finish of a mineral-based, breathable render. In a timber frame system, additional compatible insulation is installed between the studs and racking board fixed on the inside of the frame.
Delivering excellent thermal performance and very low thermal bridging, NBT Diffutherm is highly vapour open and hygroscopic, ensuring it is fully breathable. Designed to deliver excellent airtightness, NBT Diffutherm also provides good acoustic insulation and effective overheating control. NBT Diffutherm systems are suitable for either new build or refurbishment applications.
NBT will also be supporting The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), the UK representatives of natureplus, on its stand at Ecobuild (S1814). The ASBP stand will feature NBT displays demonstrating the company’s Passivhaus solutions for new build constructions, as well as its Pavadentro woodfibre system for the retrofit insulation of external walls, including those in solid wall buildings.
