A completely new concept in glass balustrades for buildings is launched this month by Zapp Balustrades.
Designed for balconies and terraces of private apartments, houses, and hotels, the new Citila from Zapp is an aluminium framed height-adjustable glass screen to give more protection and comfort from cold winds on inclement days. In the same way it is also ideal for any outside decked areas. Citila extends the seasons by making the outdoor living space more usable all year round.
The Citila glass balustrade presents the specifier with a new option for new build design and also for the classy refurbishment of existing properties. The height-adjustable glass is finely counter-balanced which means that the screens can be easily adjusted by hand to either the full height or any intermediate height. Fitted with laminated glass for safety, the glass-screened balustrades are available in four sizes. These are 900mm raising to 1500mm; 1000mm raising to 1700mm; 1100mm raising to 1900mm and 1200mm raising to 2100mm.
Manufactured in Sweden and tested to EN12600, the Citila glass balustrade comprises an aluminium frame with laminated glass in the fixed and moving sections. The fixed section can be supplied with translucent glass or other materials. With a standard finish of satin anodised aluminium, other surface finishes can be specified such as powder coating or anodising in a range of colours. For installation, the glass screen system uses various stainless steel connectors and fasteners. Other options available are automatic locking, lock with key, overhead hanging fixed glass as well as electric operation.
Similar height-adjustable glass screens from the same family of products have been successfully used for a number of years in a leisure context for top end hotels and restaurants around the UK providing cosier outside seating areas on windy days.
