New government partnership to drive UK green construction growth

A new Government partnership has been forged between UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Ecobuild to attract inward investment and drive export growth for the UK green construction sector.

Supporting Government’s ‘Construction 2025’ aims to ensure the UK continues to thrive in the face of increasing global competition, UKTI will bring senior international buyers from across the sustainable built environment from as far afield as the USA, Russia, India and Saudi Arabia to meet with the UK industry’s leading suppliers at the 2014 event (4th – 6th March 2014, ExCeL London).

Nick Baird, Chief Executive of UK Trade & Investment, said: “With the global construction market forecasted to grow by 70 per cent by 2025, it is UKTI’s mission to pursue high value opportunities for UK green construction companies internationally. We want to showcase the UK industry to as many parts of the world as possible and Ecobuild provides an outstanding opportunity for investors to see all that the UK has to offer in one place.”

Striving to drive carbon out of the built environment and achieve Government’s ambitious 50 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, Ecobuild’s exhibitors represent the crème de la crème of the UK green construction sector.

Building upon a long and successful relationship with UKTI spanning seven years, Alison Jackson, Group Director of Sustainability & Construction, Ecobuild, said: “We are immensely proud to be working in partnership with UKTI to open new business opportunities for international buyers and our exhibitors. As the leading event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, Ecobuild is the perfect platform to show the world the capabilities of the UK’s green construction sector.”

Building upon the anchor event in London, Ecobuild expanded internationally in 2013, landing in China, India and Malaysia. This development reflects the needs of visitors, exhibitors and local markets as Ecobuild strives to connect the thinking behind the ever changing dynamics of the global sustainability agenda.
