The Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE) brings together nine UK universities, the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, the Chartered Institute of Housing, the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
It is independent of government and aims to advance knowledge of the housing market, provide robust evidence to inform housing policy and practice across the UK, and aim to tackle housing problems at a national, devolved, regional, and local level.

The five-year project has received £6 million of funding from the ESRC, with support from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the AHRC. A further £1.5m of funding came from the consortium itself. Led by Glasgow University, the centre will have staff located at five hubs across the UK in Glasgow, Sheffield, London, Cardiff and Belfast
Gavin Smart, the deputy chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, is director of communications and knowledge exchange at CaCHE.
Housing professionals are invited to join the launch of CaCHE at an event on October 18. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the research that CaCHE will be undertaking in the coming year, and network with leading academics and professionals from across the housing sector.
The event will take place between 5.30pm and 7pm at RICS, 12 Great George Street, Parliament Square, London, SW1P 3AD
Speakers include:
• Lord Bob Kerslake, Chair, CaCHE Advisory Board
• Professor Ken Gibb, Director & Principal Investigator, CaCHE
• Dr Emma Stone, Director of Policy & Research, Joseph Rowntree Foundation
• Matthew Howell, Managing Director for UK & Ireland, RICS
