The very best performing construction sites registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme are getting ready for the prestigious 2018 National Site Awards in April.

The National Site Awards recognise those registered sites that have shown the highest levels of consideration towards the public, the workforce and the environment.

Out of over 6500 eligible sites, 816 have been selected to win Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards, within each of the following project value bands: Band 1: Under £500k; Band 2: £500k to <£1m; Band 3: £1m to <£5m; Band 4: £5m to <£10m; Band 5: £10m to <£50m; and Band 6: £50m and over. One Gold Award winner per value band will also be given the prestigious title of ‘Most Considerate Site 2018’, with all shortlisted sites for this accolade receiving Runner-up Awards.

More than 3000 guests from construction sites of all different sizes will be attending award ceremonies taking place between 9 - 27 April in Edinburgh, London and Manchester.

The highly revered National Site Awards will be presented by a number of leading industry figures. They are:

  • Nick Baveystock, Director General - Institution of Civil Engineers
  • Jean DuPrez MBE, Director - Women into Construction
  • Paul Everall, Chief Executive - Local Authority Building Control (LABC)
  • Dr David Hancock, Head of Construction - Government Construction Team, The Cabinet Office
  • Professor Peter Hansford FREng - University College London
  • Stewart Henderson, President - The Royal Incorporate of Architects in Scotland (RIAS)
  • Bill Hill, CEO - Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity
  • Tom Parlon, Director General - Construction Industry Federation
  • Sir Terry Morgan CBE, Chairman of Crossrail - Highways Infrastructure
  • Clare Watson, National Chair - National Federation of Builders (NFB)
  • Helen Wollaston, Chief Executive - Women into Science and Engineering (WISE)

Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy said: “The Scheme’s National Awards programme has grown beyond recognition since their launch back in 1998, to become one of the most highly respected industry accolades in construction. They are held in such high regard that, achieving an Award at a certain level is now often a stipulation of tender contracts.

“The growth of the National Site Awards year-on-year reflects the expansion of the construction industry’s commitment to raise standards in considerate construction across an ever increasing number of sites throughout the UK and Ireland.

“This year’s award-winning sites have all demonstrated a relentless commitment to help improve the image of our industry. They have taken this commitment to new levels and we look forward to recognising their success at the upcoming 2018 National Site Awards.”
