Following a competitive process, BAM Construction has been appointed as the main contractors for the construction of the Bedworth Physical Activity Hub.

BAM is operating under a pre-construction services agreement (PCSA).

The Bedworth Physical Activity Hub includes a new 25-metre, eight lane community pool, and a learner pool with a moveable floor. Its sports facilities include a four-court sports hall, 120 station fitness centre, and a 3G sports pitch, plus a new ‘all wheels’ skate park and learn to ride facility. A range of other facilities are also included.

The construction works will be carefully planned and phased around the existing leisure centre’s operation and public activities in Miners’ Welfare Park. The scheme is expected to be completed during 2024 and will commence later this year.

The company is established as one of the most sustainable in Europe’s built environment sector being one of very few with a prestigious CDP ‘A’ rating. It is a leading exponent of digital construction techniques and technology.

Delivering not only construction, but also facilities management, design and property development, BAM’s team is now working alongside the Council’s appointed Project Team to develop the design, technical details and logistics. This includes examining the process to achieve net zero carbon de-risking the project.

The Council has the option to enter a building contract for the delivery of the full circa £24.7 million project upon completion of the pre-construction services. This includes ground investigation surveys and an extensive ‘cut and fill’ exercise.

The Procure Partnerships Framework was used for the competitive procurement process, enabling excellent access to a range of wet leisure contractors most suitable to deliver such a scheme.

The consultant team includes Hadron Consulting, GT3 Architects and Faithful & Gould, with whom BAM worked to deliver the award-winning Dover Leisure Centre in 2019.
