Reynaers signs up to science-based targets to show commitment to cutting carbon emissions

Effective sustainable building design depends on real change – and in committing to science-based targets Reynaers - a leading manufacturer of aluminium windows, doors and façades - will show exactly how changes are having an impact on its carbon emissions.

In its sustainability strategy, Reynaers Act, the aluminium specialist sets out how it plans to cut carbon emissions in its products, the buildings they are used in, and across the value chain.

As a key part of this strategy Reynaers has signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative that will allow it to benchmark and record the progress it is making in reaching its ambitious targets.

Manufacturing robust and durable systems that offer excellent thermal efficiency, Reynaers has matched lower carbon commitments in its products with changes across its operation to support more sustainable practices.

Targets include cutting scope one and two emissions by 46 per cent – covering carbon generated from its own operation and indirectly from fuel use, and scope three indirect emissions from the value chain by 55 per cent, by 2030. In addition, Reynaers aims to double the number of Cradle to Cradle systems it offers by 2024, introduce digital passports to products by 2024 and continue to source low carbon aluminium.
