Kier has been appointed to deliver the new Pinn River School, a special educational needs and disability (SEND) school for pupils in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
The project is funded by the Department for Education and the new school will be managed by the Eden Academy Trust.
The new 180 place school, for students 4-19, will specialise in the educational needs of children and young adults with severe or profound learning difficulties, including pupils with autism and / or multi-sensory impairments (MSI).
It will offer a wide variety of learning spaces including classrooms, activity spaces, learning hubs, life skills rooms and a range of therapy provisions including rebound therapy and a hydro pool. A hoist network will assist children and young adults with physical limitations to move around the building, ensuring that education opportunities are available for all students.

"We are proud to be working in partnership with the Department for Education and The Eden Academy Trust to deliver this new school,” said David Rowsell, managing director for Kier Construction London.
“Pinn River School will provide its students with modern facilities designed to meet individual needs and will help to meet the increased demand for specialist education places in the borough and surrounding communities."
Susan Douglas CBE, Chief Executive of The Eden Academy Trust, explained: "The Eden Academy Trust is delighted to be trusted with establishing Pinn River School. We know the life-changing impact that a successful special school has on the pupil and their whole family. We are proud to work with the DfE, Hillingdon Council, and Kier to create this state of the art school which also provides more places so that more pupils are in the right setting.
“We can’t wait to welcome pupils to Pinn River School once Kier complete its construction."
During the build of this project, Kier has committed to supporting the local community by procuring materials locally where possible, providing work placement, apprenticeship and T-Level opportunities, and engaging with local community groups and schools by offering work experience and site visits to showcase the roles available within construction.
This is the latest appointment for Kier on the Department for Education Construction Framework and further strengthens the company's position as a leading provider of educational facilities across the UK. Previous appointments include Carew Academy, a new SEND school in Wallington; Emmanuel School, a new sustainable community school in Havering; and Oak Academy, a net zero carbon in operation secondary school in Bournemouth.
